COMET (Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics) brings together leading scientists from top universities across the UK, including Oxford, Cambridge, Leeds and UCL. The group studies earthquakes and volcanoes using state-of-the art satellite data, modelling and observational equipment to further understanding about potential hazards facing people and places across the globe.
Detail was recommended by two key COMET Board members to audit the tired existing identify and build a fresh, new brand to take this crucial study centre into the future.
Following extensive research, we created a distinctive brand that had a clear narrative around the complex and intriguing nature of the work carried out by COMET, yet made the messaging accessible and engaging.
The branding worked on a number of different levels, opening up access to COMET to a wider audience and utilising the fascinating patterns found in an interferogram to inform the intricate colour palette and design.
